Bhopal | Leading socio-cultural organisation of the city United Malayalee Association, (UMA) Bhopal celebrated International Women's Day on Sunday in a befitting manner.

In the well-attended function held at Sree Narayana Mission Hall, 45 Senior Ladies Citizens were honoured with mementos. Also on this occasion 27 Malayalam Mission Teachers and other women functionaries of the association were felicitated.

Amar Sharma Dev Rajbhar, Member of Parliament, Nepal, Dr. Seetha Lakshmi B, Neuro Physician, Apollo SAGE Hospital, Bhopal, and Vishnu Sudhakaran, Regional Director, Sports Authority of India (M. P. & Chattisgarh) were present in the felicitation function.

Amar Sharma Dev Rajbhar in his address said that women are playing a vital role in development of citizen and nation. Today they are excelling in the field of social, economic, cultural and political field. He appreciated the activities of the association and said organising a function to mark the international women's day and honouring the senior women members itself reflect the respect for women.

Dr. Seetha Lakshmi spoke about the health issues particularly faced by senior women and gave simple tips to take care of health.

Vishnu Sudhakaran Regional Director SAI spoke on the achievements of women in sports arena and urged women to enter in sports activity more and more.

Cultural programmes were also staged. Skit ' Safalami Yaatra' staged by Malayalam Mission teachers emotionally touched everybody.

O. D. Joseph, President welcomed the gathering and gave a brief of UMA activities. K. P. Das General Secretary also spoke on the occasion. Raji Gopinath, Ladies Wing Secretary proposed vote of thanks.
