

Indore | A most-wanted terrorist, Sarfaraz Memon, who was involved in suspicious activities of PFI in 2018, was arrested here which was confirmed by Home Minister Narottam Mishra. NIA had issued an alert a day earlier about Sarfaraz being in Mumbai, following which the police there sent an alert to their counterparts here.
According to police, Sarfaraz of Chandan Nagar was running a medical store here and had been living near the mosque in Khajrana area for quite some time.
DCP Intelligence Rajat Saklecha said a Mumbai police team had reached here and searched the house in Green Park Colony on Monday and questioned his parents, besides two other people. On learning about his parents being taken by the police, he reached the station. Most of Sarfaraz's movements have been in Green Park and Khajrana areas.
Sarfaraz, who is said to have come here in 2018, claimed that he had married a Chinese woman in Hong Kong and had been living with her. He said he had come here after a dispute with her. Police said he claimed to have married four times in India.
Sarfaraz is believed to have received training for terrorist activities in Pakistan, China and Hong Kong. He knows Spanish, Chinese and English and his passport was issued from Hong Kong. He had lived in Hong Kong for 12 years, and visited China several times. He is said to have had his Aadhaar card and driving licence readied here eight years ago. Mumbai ATS is expected to reach here for further inquiry and questioning, police said.
