Bhopal | The Municipal Corporation is now going to take strict action against those who do not deposit property tax and water user charges in Bhopal. Earlier, instructions were given to attach the properties of the defaulters. But even after doing e-tendering of more than 25,000 properties, when no buyer came forward, the municipal officials have started implementing a new method for recovery. Under this, Municipal Corporation Commissioner KVS Chowdhary has given instructions to disconnect the connections of the houses of those who do not deposit the dues.

Commissioner KVS Chowdhary on Tuesday inspected the revenue collection work in ward number-15, 16 of zone number four, ward number-10 of zone number two. In order to ensure 100% recovery, he has directed to do the revenue collection work more effectively and go door-to-door to motivate the taxpayers to pay taxes, serve or paste notices of those who do not deposit taxes and tap connections of defaulters.

He also instructed to take action for severance of water connection of defaulters. It has been decided to impose surcharge on those who do not pay taxes till March 31. At the same time, action will also be taken to end the exemption of 50 percent given on self-use properties and attachment of properties.

Here the properties of the defaulters are being attached by the Municipal Corporation to recover the property tax. In these, tender has also been issued for e-auction of more than five thousand properties. But no buyers are coming forward. For example, the municipal corporation has to recover Rs 2,000 from a person, such properties have also been included in the e-auction. In such a situation, if the buyer fills the tender, and the property owner pays the outstanding tax, the tender fee will be lost.
