Indore | As many as 42 snakes, monkeys and colorful birds of 15 rare species found in six countries were brought to the city's Kamla Nehru Zoological Museum on Wednesday.
Under the animal exchange programme, they birds were sent from the Zoological Garden in Jamnagar. It also has a pair of yellow and green anacondas, besides two pairs of African pythons of four colours. There are kangaroo-looking galagoes of South America and pocket-sized marmoset of America.
In the next three days, all will be released with other birds in the bird sanctuary. Park incharge Uttam Yadav said the length of four-month-old female anaconda was 2 ft, and six-month-old male anaconda 4.25 ft and can grow up to 20 ft and live up to 18-20 years. They would be kept in the snake house.
Visitors will now also be able to see the flying squirrel Sugar Glider and Mulankan Cockatoo (Indonesia), Greenwind Macau (South America), Rosella (Australia), Kansur bird (America), Larry bird (Australia) and Finch (Australia).
Last month, six lions, five tigers, eight alligators and a pair of foxes were given to Jamnagar garden from here under the animal exchange programme.
In return, 150 birds, monkeys and snakes of 60 species are being given and the first installment had arrived.
