Indore | Palm Sunday was celebrated in all churches here, marking the beginning of the Holy Week when there will be services on Monte Thursday and Good Friday.

After fasting for 40 days, Lord Jesus is believed to have entered Jerusalem and custom is that people welcomed him with palm branches in their hands. In this memorial, churches celebrate the festival of Palm Sunday.

Devotees gathered in all the churches here on Sunday morning where palm leaves blessed by sprinkling of holy water by priests after which devotees entered the church in a procession.

Holy Mass was led by Fr Sibi Joseph at Red Church. At St Mary’s Orthodox Valiya Pally, Khajrana, vicar Fr Jacob Mathew led the Hosanna Sunday celebration and the Holy Qurbana.

Bhopal | The Holy week began with Palm procession in all the city Churches on 2nd April that will be followed by the solemn days of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter day.

Archbishop A.A.S. Durairaj SVD led the Holy Eucharist celebration with Palm Sunday procession at Infant Jesus Church, Ayodhya By Pass road, Bhopal in the midst of many faithful.

In his address Archbishop asked the faithful to bring qualitive changes in life by meaningful participation of the holy week services. He reminded people not to take Jesus' passion and death as it happened 2000 yrs ago but to take it as He is dying once again for all our sins. He asked the people to become conscious of the individual responsibility to become the agents of justice and peace to establish God’s Kingdom here on earth.

The alter of the Churches were found decorated with palms and red cloth to mark the passion of Jesus Christ. Three readings were taken from Bible to reflect on the sufferings of Jesus Christ. Large number of people was found participating the Palm Sunday service in most of the churches in the city.
