Indore | The increasing pollution in the city remains a matter of concern for all. Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava has taken an initiative to improve the Air Quality Index (AQI) on the occasion, in which people have been appealed to use kanda instead of wood in Holika Dahan. He has also given information about where these will be available.
The report of the air quality index of the city is issued continuously by the State pollution control board. For this, a real time pollution monitoring station has also been installed at Regal junction, through which the report is prepared.
Talking about the month of March, where the AQI was 124 on the 1st, it was recorded at 100 and 98 on the 2nd and 3rd of March respectively. An AQI of 0 to 50 is considered good, 50 to 100 moderate. An AQI above this sets off alarm bells. Right now the situation is completely on edge. AQI 277 has also been recorded in January this year, since then continuous efforts are being made to keep the AQI below 100.
Mayor Pushyamitra Bhagarv has appealed that 'after Covid, Holi this time has different enthusiasm, joy and colours. Let us celebrate environment friendly Holi this time. With a view to improve the air quality index of the city, while using wood in Holika Dahan, with minimum use of wood or cow dung, then this eco-friendly Holika Dahan will work to give a new message to the whole country.
