Indore | Efforts will be made to make Indore's `Ger' in the World Heritage list so as to promote tourism in Indore, said city Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava while addressing a meeting of the Mayor-in-council here on Tuesday. He said the way Indore has made its mark in India and the world for its cleanliness, he was making efforts to ensure that Indore's `Ger procession' taken out on Rangpanchmi gets the same recognition.

He instructed IMC officials to take out a tableau carrying the corporation's message in the `ger' to be taken out on Rangpanchami. Along with this, instructions were given to complete the works to be done at the corporation level before Rangpanchami. The Mayor said that keeping in view the renovation and renovation works done by the Corporation in Rajwada, Gopal Mandir and surrounding areas under the Smart City Scheme, the said area must be protected from colours and water during the `ger procession'. He directed officials to ensure these structures remained protected and covered.

As decided in the meeting, an MIC team will undertake a visit to Nagpur, Bangalore and Hyderabad to study best practices of these cities In the meeting of the Mayor-in-Council, approval was also given regarding the visit of a team of MIC members to Nagpur, Bangalore, Hyderabad to study best practices of these cities in the areas of development work, public transport, environmental protection, etc. An approval to this effect was given in a meeting of the MIC. The meeting among others was attended by Mayor council members Ashwin Shukla, Niranjan Singh Chauhan, Nandkishore Pahadia, Abhishek Sharma, Rajesh Udawat, Manish Sharma, all additional commissioners, secretaries, deputy commissioners and department heads respectively.
