KOCHI: In honor of Gandhi Jayanti, senior citizens in Kerala are invited to join a special pilgrimage to Porbandar, Gujarat—the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi. This five-day tour, designed to celebrate the life and legacy of the Father of the Nation, offers participants the chance to visit key landmarks that shaped Gandhi's philosophy of non-violence and truth.
The pilgrimage will commence on October 1st, with departures from Nedumbassery Airport (Kochi), Karipur Airport (Kozhikode), and Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. Travelers will explore significant historical and cultural sites that reflect both Gandhi's life and India's heritage.
A central highlight of the tour is a visit to Kirti Mandir in Porbandar, a memorial dedicated to Gandhi. Standing 79 feet tall, it symbolizes Gandhi’s 79-year life. The journey will also include a visit to Dwarka, one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites, and Somnath, home to one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Additionally, participants will tour Rajkot, a city where Gandhi spent part of his childhood.
Organized by Tourmax Destination Management, the tour is designed to be both a spiritual and educational journey, offering participants the chance to engage with India's rich cultural and historical legacy. To make the pilgrimage more accessible, a 5% discount is being offered to senior citizens. This initiative aims to encourage more elderly travelers to embark on this reflective and meaningful journey.
