Anamika Joy Secures Top Rank in Sports Management at MG University

Her academic and extracurricular journey is as inspiring as it is impressive

Kochi: Anamika Joy, a dedicated student from Aluva UC College, has achieved the remarkable distinction of securing the first rank in the Sports Management degree course at MG University.

Anamika, a black belt in karate, has already begun her professional career as a martial arts teacher at the Hyderabad Vanaparthi branch of Delhi World School, a position she obtained through campus recruitment held at UC College.

Her academic and extracurricular journey is as inspiring as it is impressive. Anamika completed her 10th grade with an A grade in the ICS C syllabus at Santhome Central School, Mookannur. During her time at Kothamangalam Mathirapilly Vocational Higher Secondary School, she excelled in athletics, winning a silver medal in the 400m hurdles at the 2018 ICSC State meet, and earning silver in hurdles and bronze in the 100m at the 2019 Ernakulam district meet. She also competed in the Kerala state meet.

In 2020, a severe accident necessitated multiple surgeries and forcing her to withdraw from athletics. Despite these challenges, Anamika demonstrated exceptional resilience, passing her Plus Two with 86 percent marks while recovering from her surgeries.

Anamika's achievements in karate are equally noteworthy. She won two gold medals in the state karate tournament in 2022 and earned her black belt in 2023. She is currently working as a Karate Referee for the OKSK Karate Team.

Hailing from Mookannur, Anamika is the youngest daughter of Tabor Madassery Joy and Jency. Her sister, Alisha, is a final-year postgraduate student in Clinical Psychology at Prajyoti Niketan College, and her brother-in-law is Vivek T. Biju.
