New Delhi | Actor Anil Kapoor, who played Majnu bhai to Nana Patekar's don Uday Shetty in "Welcome" and "Welcome Back", says he will miss his presence in life, on the set, over phone and on the big screen.

Patekar died on Thursday in his Goa home. He was 75.

Kapoor played Patekar's foster brother and his right hand man in the 2007 comedy about a don who wants his half-sister to marry a decent guy despite his criminal background. Kapoor and Patekar's chemistry is still considered one of the most comedic pairings in Bollywood. "My friend left me and went away... First Satish (Kaushik), and now my Nanya. Nanya, you left us so suddenly, far too soon… The greatest artist in the world has left us forever. I'm going to miss you so much - in life, on set, over the phone, and on the big screen," Kapoor wrote in Hindi on Instagram.

Patekar's sudden passing has shocked the industry and fans as the actor seemed fit and even participated in an event just days before his death.

One of the most versatile performers, Patekar was a three-time National Film Award winner, whose explosive intensity and distinct dialogue delivery made him popular among the masses.

His famous movies are "Tiranga", "Krantiveer", "Angni Sakshi", "Apaharan", "Rajneeti", Marathi film "Natsamrat", Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Khamoshi: The Musical", Gulzar's "Hu Tu Tu" and Ram Gopal Varma's "Bhoot".

Patekar's last major movie outing was Vishal Bhardwaj's "O' Romeo", which released early this year.
