Kochi | Keralam Chief Minister V D Satheesan on Tuesday praised the Nivin Pauly-Mamitha Baiju-starrer Malayalam film 'Bethlehem Kudumba Unit', saying its treatment, portrayal of village life and warm human relationships kept him engaged throughout.
In a Facebook post, Satheesan said he had watched the film with his daughter and her friend after a long gap, as his busy schedule had disrupted his habit of watching at least one film every month.
“I used to watch at least one film every month, but my busy schedule had made me give up the habit. After a long gap, I finally watched a film in one sitting yesterday (Monday)!’,” he said.
Satheesan said he could easily connect with the film as it reminded him of his childhood and the village life he had witnessed growing up.
“The village landscapes we saw back then, the people who lived there, the ordinary lives they led, the love they shared and the warm romances - - all these elements kept me glued to the screen,” Satheesan said.
The CM added that he wondered why he had taken so long to watch the film after it ended.
Praising the performances, Satheesan said even actors who appeared in just one or two scenes had made their presence felt.
The film made him laugh and, at times, moved him to sadness, he said, adding that he enjoyed it from beginning to end.
“This film is the result of complete teamwork,” he said.
Satheesan said writing a note appreciating a film was not something he usually did, but the experience had left him refreshed and prompted him to share his thoughts.
The Chief Minister also said he had called director A D Girish and actor Sangeeth Prathap to congratulate them.
He could not reach actors Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju over the phone, he added.
Satheesan also singled out Glikson, a role played by Roshan Shanavas, who had won a place in his heart along with the other actors.
“Along with them, there is one more person who has found a place in my heart - -Glikson. Poor Glikson!” he wrote.
The Chief Minister congratulated everyone who had worked on the film.
