IOA elections on December 5, PT Usha calls it milestone for good governance

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) will elect its new Executive Council on December 5, five days before the current committee's term ends

New Delhi | The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) will elect its new Executive Council on December 5, five days before the current committee's term ends, and kick-started the process on Saturday by appointing Sanjay Kumar Srivastava as returning officer to oversee the polls.

Srivastava is a former Chief Election Commissioner of Delhi and Chandigarh.

IOA President PT Usha described the move as a milestone in the organisation's efforts to strengthen good governance.

"The 2026 elections mark an important milestone in strengthening good governance, transparency and accountability within the Indian Olympic Movement. Our objective is to build strong, credible and athlete-centric institutions, fully aligned with the Olympic Charter and the national sports governance framework," Usha was quoted as saying in a press release.
