Chintha Jerome becomes first woman president of DYFI Keralam

Chintha Jerome was elected as the first woman state president of the DYFI at the conclusion of its state conference held here, the organisation said on Saturday.

M Vijin MLA was elected as the state secretary of the CPI(M)-linked youth organisation, while R Rahul will be the state treasurer.

Jerome, a native of Kollam, holds a PhD and was active in the Students' Federation of India (SFI) during her student days.

She served as chairperson of the Kerala State Youth Commission from 2016 to 2023.

Vijin has been representing the Kalliassery Assembly constituency in Kannur district since 2021.

The outgoing state committee comprised V Vaseef as president, V K Sanoj as secretary and S R Arun Babu as treasurer.
