New Delhi | Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Sunday attacked the BJP over the floods in Bihar, saying its 'double-engine' government must explain what has it done over the last 17 years to tackle this annual tragedy and what has actually changed on the ground.
The Congress leader said the people of Bihar need a permanent solution, not just annual relief and assurances.
"Floods have once again wreaked havoc in Bihar. Lakhs of people are affected, and hundreds of villages are submerged. There are reports of deaths and people going missing. I extend my deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones," Gandhi said in a post in Hindi on X.
The most tragic aspect is that this crisis in Bihar is not new and every year, floods strike, lives are lost, families are devastated, and people are forced to migrate, the former Congress chief said.
"The BJP's 'double-engine' government must explain: what has it done over the last 17 years to tackle this annual tragedy? What has actually changed on the ground?" Gandhi said.
