By poll: Vijay to hold roadshow in Dharapuram assembly constituency

TVK president C Joseph Vijay will hold a roadshow in the Dharapuram assembly constituency on Sunday in support of the party's candidate P Sathyabama ahead of the October 6 bypolls.

Chennai | TVK president C Joseph Vijay will hold a roadshow in the Dharapuram assembly constituency on Sunday in support of the party's candidate P Sathyabama ahead of the October 6 bypolls.

As campaigning enters its final leg, party souces said Vijay is expected to fly to Coimbatore and then take a helicopter to Dharapuram, from where he will travel through the constituency and interact with the public at multiple locations.

He will embark on the campaign around 1 pm, sources said.

The planned campaign route is expected to cover more than 20 public-contact points over around 40 km in the Dharapuram area.

The campaign procession will pass through key stretches, including the Periyar statue junction, five roads junction, and Meenakshipuram, before proceeding toward Kulathupalayam, Karaiyur, and the Vanjiamman temple area.

Over 2,000 police personnel will be deployed along the route as part of security arrangements, police said.

With Sunday being a holiday, authorities anticipate significant crowds gathering along the route.

Crowd management is expected to be a major challenge, particularly along narrower stretches, with personnel stationed across key intersections and along the entire transit route.

This will be Chief Minister Vijay’s second campaign visit to the constituency, following his September 30 rally.

Polling for the Dharapuram and Madurantakam constituencies will be held on October 6, with counting scheduled for October 9.
