Vice Prez Radhakrishnan offers prayers at Tirumala temple

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan on Tuesday offered prayers at Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple in Tirumala.

Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh) | Vice President CP Radhakrishnan on Tuesday offered prayers at Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple in Tirumala.

Accompanied by Vedic priests, the Vice President entered the temple and offered prayers at the Dwajasthambham (flagstaff).

"Radhakrishnan offered prayers at the Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple in Tirumala today," an official release from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) said.

Following the darshan (visit to deity), priests rendered Veda Ashirvachanam at Ranganayakula Mandapam and honoured the Vice President with Theertha Prasadam, besides presenting a portrait of the Lord Ventateswara.

He also visited the shrines of Vakulamata, Vimana Venkateswara Swamy, Bhashyakarlu Sannidhi, and Yoga Narasimha Swamy within the temple premises.

Radhakrishnan later offered prayers at Sri Bedi Anjaneya Swamy temple located opposite the main shrine.

The Vice President's visit to the darshan follows his arrival at Tirumala late on Monday, where he was received by state officials and temple authorities.

Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple, one of the richest Hindu shrines in the world, is managed by TTD, the official custodian of the temple.
