Chennai | Sapiens Health foundation a prominent NGO from Chennai celebrated the World Kidney Day 2026 on March 10th . The theme for the World Kidney Day is Kidney Health for All, Caring for People, Protecting the Planet. A Documentary on Sapiens Health Foundation’s journey and key mile stones was screened on the occasion. Dr Rajan Ravichandran, Chairman of the foundation spoke on the efforts put by the foundation towards prevention of kidney disease. He also highlighted about the treatment of an Orphan disease called Cystinosis which the foundation has been sponsoring and supporting patients since 2012. He elaborated on the salt reduction campaign which the foundation has been carrying out since 2010. He shared the details on the workshops conducted successfully for Physicians by Sapiens Health Foundation in various cities (Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Vijayawada). This would be a major step towards combating life style diseases which are the No.1 killer in the world. Shri. Rajiv Menon, eminent Film Maker, the chief guest for the function released the salt reduction guide in various languages and lauded Sapiens for its work. Dr. T. Balasubramaniyan, Director, Institute of Nephrology, Rajiv Gandhi Government General hospital and Madras Medical College elaborated on the World Kidney Day theme.
The function ended with the musing’s of Crazy Balaji .R.Sundar,Trustee, Sapiens Health Foundation welcomed the gathering and highlighted the contribution of the Foundation which is in its 29 th Year with several awareness campaigns on health related issues. As part of the awareness campaign on better health a Doctor’s diet/recipe booklet and a measuring spoon for salt usage was distributed to the audience.
