PM pays homage to Ram Vilas Paswan on birth anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid tributes to former union minister Ram Vilas Paswan on his birth anniversary, and said he made a significant contribution to the upliftment of the underprivileged and vulnerable sections of society.

Paswan, founder of the Lok Jan Shakti Party, was born on July 5, 1946 and died on October 8, 2020.

"My heartfelt tributes to former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan Ji on his birth anniversary. He made a significant contribution to the upliftment of the underprivileged and vulnerable sections of society," Modi said in a post on X in Hindi.

The prime minister said Paswan will always be remembered for his dedication to public service and service to the nation.

Paswan's son Chirag Paswan, who is a union minister in the Modi government, is now head of the Lok Jan Shakti Party (Ram Vilas).

With five Lok Sabha MPs, the Lok Jan Shakti Party (Ram Vilas) is a constituent of the ruling NDA.
