Reinforcing its commitment to passenger hygiene, food quality, and passenger safety, Konkan Railway took prompt action against an unauthorized tout found selling spoiled fruits onboard Train No. 12052 Madgaon Jn. – Mumbai CSMT Janshatabdi Express on 31.05.2026. Catering services on this train were under the management of IRCTC. 

The individual was found engaged in unauthorized vending of spoiled fruits onboard the train. Upon verification, the individual was found to be operating without valid authorization or identification. Prompt action was taken as per the prescribed procedures, and a penalty was imposed for unauthorized vending. Subsequently, the individual was handed over to the Railway Protection Force, Ratnagiri for further necessary action.

Konkan Railway has launched a 15-day special drive jointly by the Commercial and Railway Protection Force (RPF) Departments with effect from 31.05.2026 to curb unauthorized vending in trains and ensure a safe, secure, and comfortable travel experience for passengers. Intensive checks are being carried out at stations and onboard trains across the Konkan Railway network, with strict action being taken against violators in accordance with railway rules. The drive aims to safeguard passenger interests by preventing unauthorized sales, overcharging, and other irregular activities while reinforcing compliance with prescribed standards and regulations, maintaining standards of onboard hygiene, food quality, passenger service, cleanliness, and adherence to prescribed rates across the network. 

Passengers are requested to report any instances of unauthorized vending or other irregular activities to railway authorities to enable prompt and appropriate action.
