Konkan Railway Gears Up to Facilitate Smooth Ganpati Festival Travel 2026".

Ganesh Festival is one of the most auspicious and joyous festivals celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm across the Konkan region. During this festive period, thousands of devotees travel to their hometowns to celebrate the divine festival.

Reaffirming its commitment to ensuring safe, smooth, and comfortable journeys, Konkan Railway has made comprehensive arrangements to facilitate the movement and convenience of passengers during Ganesh Festival 2026.

Special Train Services

To cater to the increased passenger traffic, Konkan Railway will operate special trains in coordination with Central Railway and Western Railway. These trains service will run between Udhna Jn., Vishvamitri, Valsad, Vadodara Jn., Nagpur Jn., Mumbai Central, Mumbai CSMT, Lokmanya Tilak (T), Bandra (T), Diva, Panvel and  Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kudal, Sawantwadi Road, Madgaon Jn. and Thokur.

Medical Arrangements

  • First Aid posts have been set up at Mangaon, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Kudal and Sawantwadi Road stations in coordination with State Health Authorities from 12/09/2026 which will be manned by para-medical staff.

  • Medical Officers, Staff Nurse and Multi Purpose Health Workers will be available at Chiplun and Ratnagiri Health Units for any emergency.

  • Free health check-ups, health awareness and blood donation camps, along with medical booths for blood sugar and BP checks, will be available at major stations.

  • Ambulance services from Government hospitals and empanelled hospitals will be available for emergencies.

Passenger Facilities

  • All food stalls have been advised to remain open during train arrival and departure to ensure adequate availability of meals and refreshments to meet passenger requirements.

  • Special queue arrangements have been planned at booking offices.

  • Pre-printed UTS tickets are being arranged at Mangaon, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road  and Sawantwadi Road and PRS counters will also be utilized for issuing UTS tickets.

  • M-UTS Sahayak facilities are available at Ratnagiri, Kankavali and Kudal stations.

  • Rail Yatri Sahayata Kendras (RYSKs) have been set up round the clock at Mangaon, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Kudal, Sawantwadi Road, Thivim and Karmali, with dedicated supervisors to assist passengers.

  • During heavy passenger rush, Holding areas will be designated at Mangaon, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Kanakavali, Kudal & Sawantwadi Road.

  • Regular announcements, along with special Ganapati Utsav announcements, will be made at all stations.

  • KRCL and MSRTC will coordinate to provide buses at stations for onward journeys, ensuring seamless travel.

  • Special ticket checking drives will be conducted at stations and trains to ensure smooth travel and prevent inconvenience to authorized passengers.

  • Extra efforts are being taken to keep stations clean, with additional manpower deployed to maintain a pleasant environment for passengers.

Safety & Security Measures

  • Special arrangements for crowd management have been made at stations and on trains to ensure smooth passenger flow and safe travel.

  • Adequate security arrangements have been made and CCTV’s will be closely monitored round-the-clock to ensure passenger safety..

  • The Railway Protection Force (RPF) will work in coordination with local police to ensure passenger safety.

In addition to the arrangements made for passenger convenience and safety, stations will celebrate the joyous spirit of Ganesh Utsav. Stations will feature vibrant stalls offering puja items, decoration items, fresh fruits, fresh flowers, Kaju Modak and brand promotion stalls. Stages will also be provided free of cost at Mangaon, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Kudal and Sawantwadi Road for local arts, music shows, Bhajans, Jakhadi, string puppet shows, karaoke and other cultural programmes. Anyone willing to showcase their cultural talent can contact or visit the Station Master and take advantage of this facility. Dedicated Ganesh Utsav selfie points, colourful rangoli and special lighting will create a lively and cheerful atmosphere for passengers during their journey. Special initiatives include floral welcomes through drones, Trumpet performances and a special welcome for children with balloons and crayons. Medical camps and free water bottles will also be provided for passengers with the help of NGOs and Private organisations.

Konkan Railway appeals to all passengers to extend their cooperation in maintaining cleanliness and discipline so that the festive journey remains safe and comfortable for everyone. Efforts have been strengthened to ensure safe operations, uninterrupted passenger amenities and a smooth travel experience throughout the festival. Konkan Railway remains dedicated to providing a safe, comfortable, and efficient travel experience, and extends warm wishes for a joyful Ganesh Utsav and a pleasant journey to all passengers.
