IYC holds press conference over denial of permission for Jantar Mantar protest

Indian Youth Congress held a press conference at the Delhi HC over the denial of permission for its proposed protest at Jantar Mantar

New Delhi | The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) on Monday held a press conference at the Delhi High Court over the denial of permission for its proposed protest at Jantar Mantar, while also raising concerns over the alleged assault on journalists in the national capital.

The organisation's legal cell addressed the media as the Delhi High Court granted police time till Tuesday to respond to a plea filed by IYC president Uday Bhanu Chib.

The IYC had sought permission on September 25 to hold a peaceful demonstration involving around 100-150 people. The rejection was communicated on October 1, the proposed date of the protest, according to the plea.

During the press conference, the organisation also condemned reports of journalists being allegedly assaulted and detained, and demanded an impartial investigation into the incidents and accountability for those responsible.
