“It is time to make your country proud,” Justice V Ramasubramanian at ICFAI ( Shri. Justice V. Ramasubramanian, Chiarman, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India, was the Chief Guest at 15th Convocation of ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education) “By graduating from this university you made yourself proud, now it is time to make the nation proud,” said Justice V Ramasubramanian, the incumbent chairperson of National Human Rights Commission of India and a former judge of Supreme Court of India. He was addressing the students graduating from The ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education at Hyderabad, at the institute’s Fifteenth Convocation. Narrating the inspiring story of Benjamin Franklin he said, coming from early life of hardships, he became one of the prominent figures in the American history. Benjamin Franklin’s life shows how one can raise from challenging circumstances, to achieve success and contribute to the society. He asked them to cultivate some of the 13 virtues that Franklin practiced in order to build their character. He said that while career building is important, character building is also equally important.
Dr. C. Rangarajan Speech: Speaking about the importance of education in nation building, the Chancellor of the University, Dr. C. Rangarajan, who presided over the convocation said, that there is a need to strengthen higher education in terms of quality and effectiveness. The education sector can be reformed through access, equity and quality.
As India is looking forward to becoming a developed country by 2047, Dr. Rangarajan showed quantitative dimensions and factors that could make India one. To achieve percapita income of a developed country, India needs GDP of US$ 29.99 trillion, calling for a nominal GDP growth of 11.41% annually for 25 years, and a real growth of 7.41%. Dr. Rangarajan highlighted the regional dimension of Viksit Bharat and pointed out that six states contribute 52% to national GDP, while 27 States and Union Territories for 48%. He also said several dynamic factors impact achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat. “The vision of Viksit Bharat is not just a statistical goal - it has to be transformative journey that requires the collective efforts of and society,” he said. These include increase in investment rate, new technologies, focusing on labor intensive sectors, and expanding social infrastructure. Dr.Rangarajan said that growth must be accompanied by equitable distribution. “Growth and equity should not be posed as opposing considerations. They must be woven together to give acceptable pattern of development,” he said. Highlighting the current trends in the world trade that was highly impacted by the economic policies of President Trump, Dr.Rangarajan opined that in this situation, emergence of different blocks of countries within which trade is freer is inevitable.
VC Speech: Prof T Koti Reddy, Vice Chancellor ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, presented a report on the progress made by the University during the year. Prof. Koti Reddy congratulated the students, and detailed the achievements, ratings and rankings achieved by the university. He also highlighted several programs that the university undertook for the all-round improvement of students. The university’s endeavors in implementing the NEP 2020 and initiatives towards implementing Environmental. Social and Governance initiatives were detailed by Prof. Koti Reddy.
Honoris Causa degrees: Honoris causa degrees were conferred on eminent lawyer and former Attorney General of India, Shri. Keshava Parasaran, Shri Subhash Palekar, brain behind Zero Budget farming, and Shri Deepak Parekh, Former Chairman of HDFC. Graduating Students :This year 3,947 students have graduated. 11 students were awarded their Ph.D. degrees in Management, and 6 in Law. 1,258 students were given MBA degree from Hyderabad, and 422 from off campus in Bengaluru. 25 EMBA, 21 WMBA, 627 online MBA and 17 distance MBA degrees were awarded. In the other streams, 11 LLM, 176 BBA-LLB (Hons), 76 BA-LLB (Hons), 291 B.Tech., and 771 BBA degrees were awarded. 19 BA (Economics) and eight MA (Economics) degrees were given. 43 BBA degrees were awarded to students from off campus at Bengaluru, and 899 BBA degrees were given for students from IBS Hyderabad. 27 students got their B.Sc. degrees and 10 students were conferred with B.Arch. degree.
Medals Winners: Medals were given to students for academic excellence and all round excellence. The N J Yasaswy Awards for the best students, for all round excellence in the Business School were given to Aravind N (Gold medal), Nandika Gouda (Silver medal) and Shah Jainam Rajendra Kumar (Bronze medal). Badisa Manideep got the Gold medal and Aayush Goel, the Silver medal for academic excellence. Every year, the Saurabh Sharma Memorial Gold Medal constituted by the parents of Saurabh Sharma student of MBA Class of 2002, is given to the First Rank holder in MBA Marketing stream. This year the award was given to Ishita Bagla. The Faiyaz Ahmed Khan Memorial Gold Medal, given by Faiyaz Ahmed Khan’s memory for the first rank holder in MBA finance went to Debrup Dey. Deven Arora was given the Manish Reddy Raavi award for the best student in Finance, and Smriti Paharia got the The Govind Shanbogue Award given to the best student in the MBA HRM stream.
For academic excellence in the BBA program, gold medal given to the first rank holder Pratiksha Nayak and silver medal to Dasari Vaishnavi. The N J Yasaswy Awards for the Best students for all round excellence in the BBA stream were given to N Akshat (Gold) medal Sirisha Pathak (Silver medal), and Ayush Jain (Bronze medal).
In the social sciences stream, gold medal given to the first rank holder in BA (Economics) went to Kalluri Lowkika Reddy. Aayushi Sinha. received the N J Yasaswy Award for the best student for all round excellence in the ICFAI School of Social Sciences.
Several students from the Technology stream were recognized for their academic and all round excellence. Cherukuri Gaurav Sushant from B.Tech secured gold medal in two categories – for all round excellence, and academic excellence. Badri Prashanthi got the silver medal for academic excellence, Bandaru Anusha was awarded silver medal and Kandhimalla Sravya the bronze medal for all round excellence. Bollaboina Varsha received gold medal for academic excellence in B.Sc. In the architecture stream gold medal for academic excellence was given to Dontha Bharani. The N J Yasaswy Award for the Best srudent, for all round excellence in the law school went to Nishitha Chopra. The silver mdeal was awarded to Varanasi Sesha Venkata Sathya Prateeksha. Muskaan Gupta and Namana Shreya Achala Sai from BBA LLB were honoured with gold and silver medals in academic excellence respectively. In the BA LLB program first rank, Varanasi Pratheeka was recognized with the gold medal, and Pooja S with the silver medal for academic excellence.
Honorable Justice B.Prakash Rao in the memory of his daughter Ms.Amritha constituted The Amrith Memorial Gold Medal fund, to recognize best performing student in Procedural Law. This year Ankit Kabra was presented with the medal. Mr.N.Padmanabha Rao constituted Nellutla Venkata Krishna Rao gold medal in memory of his father. It is given for securing highest marks in Legal Language and Business English. This year Yashasvi Agarwal was chosen for the medal.
Mr.Ashok Ram Kumar and Mrs.Sheila Ram Kumar, Intellectual Property Rights attornies constituted Wordict-IP Gold Medal to encourage budding IP professionals. BH Lakshmi Varenya secured this medal for securing highest percentage of marks in IPR papers. She also received Smt B Ratna and justice B Subhashan Reddy Gold Medal for securing highest marks in Law of Contract & Transfer of Property ACT. The award was constituted by Justice Vijaya Sen Reddy B. Prof.A.V.Narasimha Rao, in the memory of his father A.Balakrishna Rao, constituted ABR Memorial Gold Medal to encourage Law students in gaining practical knowledge through clinical courses. Vartika Tripathi was given this medal for securing highest marks in Four Clinical papers.
A.P Suresh & Associate Law Chambers constituted a gold medal, and Muskaan Gupta received the medal for securing highest marks in Company Law I &II. Ms. Mahalakshmi Pavani Sr. Advocate, Supreme Court constituted Sri K Neelakanta Iyer Gold Medal or securing Highest marks in Commercial Law. Malipeddi Sri Dhruthi was awarded the medal this year. Ms.Mahalakshmi Pavani constituted another award, Smt Prema Neelakanta Iyer Gold Medal, for securing highest marks in criminal law and Dwaipayan Chatterjee was given the award.
