India, ASEAN assess progress of talks for review of goods FTA

India and the 11-nation ASEAN bloc on Tuesday took stock of the progress of talks for the review of free trade agreement in goods between the two sides

New Delhi | India and the 11-nation ASEAN bloc on Tuesday took stock of the progress of talks for the review of free trade agreement in goods between the two sides, the commerce ministry said on Wednesday.

The India-ASEAN free trade agreement in goods was signed in 2009. ASEAN is a key trade partner of India with about 11 per cent share in India's global trade.

The progress of talks was reviewed during the 13th ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA) Joint Committee (JC) and related meetings here.

"The Joint Committee provided strategic guidance to the Sub-Committees in their respective areas of work and urged them to expedite the finalisation of the outstanding chapters under the AITIGA review," it said.

Bilateral trade between India and ASEAN reached USD 128 billion in 2025-26.
