IIM Indore launches ANVESHAN - Centre of Excellence for Waste Management and WASH

Uniting Leaders for a cleaner, greener future

Indore | IIM Indore inaugurated its highly anticipated Centre of Excellence for Waste Management and WASH, named ANVESHAN, with the commencement of its first batch. The event was graced by Prof. Himanshu Rai, the Director of IIM Indore, and the Honorable Mayor of Indore, Shri Pushyamitra Bhargav, who was the Special Guest.

During the inauguration, Prof. Himanshu Rai highlighted the importance of collaboration and "Jan Bhagidari," which has played a vital role in keeping Indore as the cleanest city in the country. He urged the participants to learn from the example of geese flying in a triangle formation, emphasizing trust and encouragement among team members.

Prof. Rai also emphasized the significance of openness to new ideas and introspective reflections, urging the participants to define success on their own terms and focus on building a healthy, clean, and prosperous nation.

Honorable Mayor Shri Pushyamitra Bhargav praised IIM Indore's program, acknowledging its role in fostering behavioral change and contributing to the city's cleanliness and development. He expressed confidence in the Centre of Excellence's mission to promote knowledge sharing among cities.

The first batch of ANVESHAN comprises 26 municipal commissioners and senior officers from 14 different states. The program spans four days and includes interactions with distinguished faculty members from IIM Indore, experts from partner universities, GIZ India, and officials from other Municipal Corporations. Practical insights into waste-to-wealth transformations will be gained through visits to waste management plants.

The comprehensive curriculum covers various topics, including waste management aspects, behavioral change, modern technologies in waste collection, leadership and communication, infrastructure financing, policy landscape, green credits, carbon credits, and public-private partnerships.

ANVESHAN has collaborated with five prestigious institutions globally to enhance the Indore Swachhata Model and develop sustainable waste management solutions.

The ANVESHAN Movie, unveiled during the occasion, visually represents ANVESHAN's mission and dedication to sustainable waste management and WASH initiatives.

With a generous grant of Rs. 19.95 Cr from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), ANVESHAN is well-positioned to make a lasting impact on cleanliness, waste management, and hygiene standards in India. The ANVESHAN complex at IIM Indore is a state-of-the-art facility designed for high-quality educational programs and online classes, promoting collaboration among faculty, staff, and participants.

As ANVESHAN takes significant strides towards transforming waste into wealth and promoting sustainable practices, IIM Indore reaffirms its commitment to a cleaner and healthier India and beyond.
