Brigadier, son assaulted in southwest Delhi after objecting to drinking in car

An army brigadier and his son were allegedly assaulted by a group of men in the Vasant Enclave area of southwest Delhi when the officer objected to two people consuming alcohol inside a parked car, police sources said on Monday.

The incident took place on Saturday.

Following the objection, a group of men allegedly gathered at the spot and attacked the brigadier and his son, the sources added.

A senior police officer said they are checking the entire matter and a complete statement will be issued.

The Indian Army has taken serious cognisance of the incident.

"The authorities in Indian Army have taken serious cognizance of the case. A Military Police team has been directed to assist the Officer. The Delhi Police has been approached for expeditious investigation and take action on priority." Further details are awaited.
