Mumabi | Sabarimala Ayyappa Seva Samajam (SASS) - Konkan Pranth is currently observing the last month of the Malayalam calendar, Karkkidakam as Ramayana maasam. For the past three years, SASS has been conducting online recitations of the Adhyaatma Ramayanam, written by Maharshi Valmiki, attracting devotees from around the world. This month-long practice of reciting the entire Ramayanam is a common tradition in Kerala, similar to the observance of Shravan month in other communities.
Karkkidaka Maasam holds importance as Lord Surya enters the zodiac sign of Cancer during this period. This is considered an auspicious time for worship, prayers, and performing rituals. Devotees are encouraged to visit temples, sacred places, and bodies of water for bathing, charity, and honoring ancestors through shradh and tarpan.
Girish Nair, the General Secretary of SASS Konkan Pranth, highlights the inspirational aspect of reciting the Ramayanam. The epic portrays the courage and adventures of Lord Sriram during his life, providing motivation for individuals facing challenges.
SASS Konkan Pranth aims to preserve and promote traditional practices that inspire devotees to face life's challenges. To achieve this, they organize a series of global recitations of the Ramayanam both online and offline.
