Sabarimala Ayyappa Seva Samajam - Mulund District Celebrates Centenary of HARIVARASANAM

Sabarimala Ayyappa Seva Samajam KONKAN PRANTH (MULUND DIST), a charitable trust with a nationwide presence, celebrated the 100th year of the iconic hymn "Harivarasanam" at Zaverben Popatlal Sabagriha, Ghatkopar.

"Harivarasanam" is a sacred hymn written in Sanskrit, sung as a lullaby every night at the Sabarimala Ayyappan's sannidhanam before the temple door is closed. This timeless hymn was penned by Smt. Konnakath Janaki Amma, a devoted Ayyappa disciple from Kerala, in 1923.

The centenary celebrations were attended by more than 500 devotees. The event began with a warm welcome by SASS Konkan Secretary-Outreach, Shri. Mohanan Nair, and featured insightful speeches by SASS Konkan Pranth President Dr. Suresh Nair and SASS Konkan Pranth General Secretary Shri. Girish G Nair, highlighting the significance of the Harivarasanam celebrations and the vision of Sabarimala Ayyappa Seva Samajam.

Mulund District Secretary Shri. Chelladurai expressed gratitude to all the Ayyappa devotees for their support in making this event a success.

Distinguished guests included SASS National Treasurer & Trustee Shri. Prakash Pai, National Secretary (Prachar) Shri. N Muthukrishnan, Paschima Madhya Kshetra President Shri. Murugan Selvan, Paschima Madhya Kshetra General Secretary Adv. Kumar Vaidyanathan, Konkan Pranth Treasurer Shri. Shashank Shah, and office bearers of SASS Mulund district.

The event featured captivating performances, including a group classical dance rendition of the Harivarasanam song directed by renowned Bharatanatyam artist Smt. Kalamandalam Dr. Vijayashree Pillai. Playback singer Smt. Asha Nair and her team, Bhakti Ganasudha by Playback singer Shri. Kannan G Nath from Kerala, and Bhajan performances by Kalaimami Shri. Veeramani Raju and his team from Chennai added to the spiritual fervor of the celebration.

The Harivarasanam celebrations commenced on August 29, 2022, in Pandalam, the birthplace of Swami Ayyappa, and will continue until December 2024.
