Mumbai: The renowned Asthika Samaj Temple in Matunga, Mumbai, is preparing to host the Maha Kumbhabhishekam of Lord Sri Ram, Lord Sri Hanuman, and other presiding deities from May 7 to 11, 2025. This sacred event, performed once every 12 years, is an important religious ritual that revitalizes the spiritual energy of the temple and its deities.

A 102-Year-Old Temple and Its Sacred Tradition

Established over a century ago, the Asthika Samaj stands as one of Mumbai’s most respected temples, upholding a rich legacy of devotion and cultural significance. The upcoming Maha Kumbhabhishekam is expected to draw large numbers of devotees, providing them with a rare and spiritually uplifting experience.

The five-day ceremony will be conducted with the highest sanctity by Vaikhanasa Aagama Shastra Vidhwan Sri Govindaraja Bhattachariyar and his team of 21 learned pandits from Madurai, alongside the temple’s own Acharyan, Sri Raghavan. The rituals will strictly follow ancient religious traditions and customs.

As part of the event, the temple is offering sanctified prasadam coins for devotees contributing towards the Maha Kumbhabhishekam:

  • 2-gram Gold Coin – for donations of ₹1,00,000

  • 10-gram Silver Coin with Ram Darbar – for donations of ₹11,000

  • 5-gram Silver Coin with Sri Hanuman – for donations of ₹2,500
