KELI ‘Puppetry Festival 2025’ on 18th and 19th

On January 18th, artists from Pinguli, a tribal area of ​​Sindhudurg village in Maharashtra, will perform the puppetry show (Noolpavakooth) called Kal Sutri Bahulya. Artistes from Dharmavaram, Andhra Pradesh will perform Tholu Bommalata or Tholpavakoot on the next day.

Mumbai | Organized in three phases from October 22, 2024 in Mumbai and Kerala, KELI's 32nd  anniversary celebrations are entering its concluding phase with the Puppetry (Pavakooth) Festival being held in the evening on January 18th  and 19th  at the Agri Koli Auditorium in Navi Mumbai. This festival series is presented to the fond memory of renowned folklorist Dr. S.K. Nair.

On January 18th, artists from Pinguli, a tribal area of ​​Sindhudurg village in Maharashtra, will perform the puppetry show (Noolpavakooth) called Kal Sutri Bahulya. Thakkar Tribal Art Ankan Museum and Art Gallery is a Puppetry association headed by Parma Sheri winner Parasuram Gangavane. Chetan Parasuram Gangavane of this group is leading the performance in Mumbai. Based on Ramayana, Tadakavadham in the Balakanda is staged on the first day. 

KELI's Puppetry Festival 2025

On the 19th, artistes from Dharmavaram, Andhra Pradesh will perform Tholu Bommalata or Tholpavakoot.  Chayanataka Brindam, a theater troupe headed by Dr. Sindhe Chidambara Rao, has male and female artists between the ages of 28 and 76. Sundara Kandam, the central character of Hanuman, is presented by them. Free passes for entry are available at Deluxe Hotel Fort, Giri Stores Matunga and Agri Koli Auditorium 2 days prior to the festival.
