Kasaragod (Kerala) | A case has been registered against a YouTuber for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and parking her car in the middle of a National Highway in Kumbala here, police said on Thursday.

The case has been registered against Dhanya S R (28), a resident of Perumbala, who runs the YouTube channel "Helen of Sparta", which has over three lakh followers.

According to police, a night patrol team found a car parked in the middle of the National Highway at Anangoor near Kumbala at around 2 am on July 1.

When the police approached the vehicle, the driver allegedly sped away from the spot.

The patrol team chased the vehicle and intercepted it near Bhagavathi Nagar.

Police said Dhanya was found in the driver's seat and was subjected to a breath analyser test, which allegedly confirmed that she was under the influence of alcohol.

She was taken to the Kumbala police station, where a case was registered against her under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act for rash and negligent driving, failing to stop the vehicle despite police directions, and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police said she was released after being served a notice directing her to appear before the investigating officer as part of the probe.
