World Breast Feeding Week Kicked Off at Aster Medcity

Kochi | World Breast Feeding Week (August 1–7) got commenced at Aster Medcity with different programs organized by the Centre of Excellence in Pediatrics & Neonatology. Ernakulam District Collector G. Priyanka IAS inaugurated the event held at the Knowledge Hub, Aster Medcity, and delivered the keynote address.


The event was organized as part of the Mother & Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (MBFHI), which focuses on maternal and child healthcare. The District Collector also distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions organized in connection with Breastfeeding Week.


Beyond awareness sessions, the event featured cultural and entertainment programs tailored for mothers and babies. Key highlights included a ramp walk for mothers and artistic performances by parents and Aster Medcity staff. In addition, mothers shared their experiences and received special gifts. Through these week-long celebrations, Aster Medcity aims to highlight the importance of breastfeeding in ensuring a sustainable and healthy future for children.

Aster Medcity CEO Dr. Nalanda Jayadev, COO Dr. Shuhaib Khader, Dr. George Jose, Dr. Jeeson Unni, Dr. Sherly Mathen, and the Chief Nursing Officer spoke during the function.
