Woman dies after falling under moving train at Ernakulam Junction

A 35-year-old woman died after she lost her footing and fell under a moving train while attempting to board it at Ernakulam Junction Railway Station here early Thursday

Kochi | A 35-year-old woman died after she lost her footing and fell under a moving train while attempting to board it at Ernakulam Junction Railway Station here early Thursday, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Chippy, a native of Kollam.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 5.15 am when she tried to board the Vanchinad Express after it had started moving from the station.

She lost her balance while boarding the moving train and fell underneath it, police said.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Railway Police have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage from the platform to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident, officials said.
