Thiruvananthapuram | Keralam Chief Minister V D Satheesan on Sunday said that the Congress-led UDF government has kept its promise to fishermen as a fishing harbour for them at Vizhinjam here is on its way to becoming a reality.
In a post on X, a day after the Fisheries Department reportedly gave in-principle approval for the fishing harbour, Satheesan said it will allow fishermen to safely dock their boats and load and unload fish.
He also gave details of the key features of the project.
The CM said that the harbour will have a 235-meter-long new breakwater and 500-meter L-shaped fishery berth and various facilities including dredging, lighting, and road connectivity.
"This will enable fishermen to to safely dock their boats and load and unload fish," he said in his X post.
The project will be reportedly undertaken by the Adani Vizhinjam Port Pvt Ltd (AVPPL), the consessionaire and operator of the Vizhinjam international seaport here.
