Vijayan presents Prof M K Sanu Award to Leelavathy

Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly, Pinarayi Vijayan, presented the Prof M K Sanu Samskarika Kendram's Sanu Award to noted Malayalam literary critic, academic, and Padma Shri awardee M Leelavathy here on Sunday.

In a Facebook post, Vijayan said he visited Leelavathy's residence to present the award, which comprises a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a sculpture designed by artist Unni Kanayi and a citation.

The award has been instituted in memory of the late Prof M K Sanu, one of Kerala's most eminent Malayalam writers, literary critics and academics.

According to Vijayan, Leelavathy said she would donate the prize money to Kanivu Pain and Palliative Care as a tribute to the distinguished litterateur, in whose memory the award was instituted.

Writer N S Madhavan and CPI(M) leaders C N Mohanan and S Satheesh were also present at the function, the post added.
