Vice-President offers prayers at Guruvayur temple after weather delay

Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Monday visited the famous Lord Krishna temple here, after bad weather disrupted his initial travel plans earlier in the day.

His helicopter, which took off from Kochi in the morning, was unable to land in Guruvayur due to heavy rain and had to return, officials said.

He later reached Guruvayur after attending a scheduled programme in Kochi.

Dhankhar, accompanied by his wife Dr Sudesh Dhankhar, was given a warm welcome at the Sreekrishna College helipad by local leaders, including MLA Murali Perunelli, District Collector Arjun Pandyan, City Police Commissioner R Ilango, and Kandanassery panchayat president Mini Jayan.

The Vice President reached the temple at 1.35 pm, offered prayers, and left at 1.48 pm, officials said.

He left Guruvayur for Kochi at 2.30 pm, officials added.
