Two more accused in KMCC Qatar office burglary case

Police probing the theft of 31 lakh Qatari riyals, worth nearly Rs 8 crore, from the KMCC office in Qatar have arrayed two more persons as accused in the case, officials said on Friday.

Kozhikode (Keralam) | Police probing the theft of 31 lakh Qatari riyals, worth nearly Rs 8 crore, from the KMCC office in Qatar have arrayed two more persons as accused in the case, officials said on Friday.

The Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC) is a cultural and social welfare organisation associated with the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), a key ally of the Congress-led UDF in Keralam.

The theft took place on September 18, 2025, at the KMCC office in Doha's Al Thumama area.

Koyilandy police registered a case against six persons on September 15 following a complaint by KMCC office-bearers.

BJP local leader Parappil Balakrishnan, a native of Koyilandy, surrendered before the Koyilandy police on Wednesday.

He was among a four-member group allegedly flown from Keralam to Qatar in connection with the robbery.

Officials involved in the investigation said Balakrishnan was questioned in custody, following which the involvement of two more persons came to light.

Based on the findings, Payyoli natives Kamarudheen and Abdul Razak Kunnummal, widely known as 'Rotana Razak,' were arrayed as accused in the case.

Police said that the duo were allegedly part of the conspiracy.

A report in this regard has been filed before the concerned court.

Police have also issued lookout notices against five accused persons who are currently abroad, officials said.

The notice was issued against Shaji, Rashi, Hassan, Nisar and Salih, police said.

Last week, the IUML leadership removed Razak from all organisational posts in the party and the KMCC.
