Thiruvananthapuram | Congress MP Kodikunnel Suresh on Thursday said the two trains in Kerala would be upgraded to modern LHB coaches.
In a Facebook post, Mavelikara MP said the Palakkad- Tuticorn, Palaruvi Express (16791/16792) would operate with LHB coaches from July 20, while the Madurai-Guruvayur Express (16327/16328) would be upgraded from July 26.
Linke-Hofmann-Busch (LHB) coaches are modern passenger coaches used by the Indian Railway, replacing older Indian Coach Factory (ICF) coaches, He said the move would ensure safer and more comfortable travel, fulfilling a long-standing demand of passengers.
The MP also said an additional Third AC coach would be added to the Palaruvi Express in response to repeated requests from long-distance travellers.
Suresh claimed that both trains were introduced following his intervention with the Railway Ministry and said the latest decision was another outcome of his sustained efforts.
He also said he had taken up with the Railway Ministry the demand to introduce LHB coaches for the Amrita Express and was continuing efforts to secure the upgrade at the earliest.
Suresh said he would continue to work for the development of Kerala's railway network and improvement of passenger amenities in the state
