Two arrested with 12 kg ganja in Keralam

Kochi | As many as 12 kg of ganja was seized from a car and two persons were arrested in Angamaly near here on Saturday, police said.

The arrested were identified as Charles Dennis (29) and Praveen Das (28), both from Punnapra in Alappuzha district.

According to the official, the arrests were made by the Ernakulam Rural District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force (DANSAF) team and Angamaly police, based on secret information received by District Police Chief KS Sudarshan.

The duo were taken into custody near the TB Junction in Angamaly during a vehicle inspection, police said.

The ganja was found packed separately in bags kept in the car's boot.

The accused were allegedly transporting the contraband to the Alappuzha area after procuring it from other states, police said.

The arrested persons were later produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.

Police said that a further investigation has been launched to identify the source of the ganja and the involvement of more persons in the case.
