Thrissur (Kerala) | State Police Chief Ravada V Chandrasekhar on Saturday said tight security arrangements have been made across Kerala for the Assembly election vote counting on May 4.
Speaking to reporters here on the sidelines of the passing-out parade of police sub-inspectors, Chandrasekhar said forces have been deployed across the state to prevent any untoward incidents on counting day.
"We are taking more preventive measures. As part of it, CCTV and drone surveillance activities have been enhanced. The entire police force has been mobilised for security purposes," he said.
He said counting centres would be guarded by central forces.
"We have deployed 25 companies of central forces to guard counting centres. Outer cordon and perimeter security will be handled by the Kerala Police. Apart from the counting centres, arrangements have been made for the security of other places as well," he said.
Regarding politically sensitive areas where violence is often reported after election results, Chandrasekhar said arrangements had been made to prevent such incidents.
"We have readied police officers for the purpose. Strict action will be taken if anyone is found causing law and order issues. We have given instructions in this regard," he said.
He added that patrolling and surveillance activities had been intensified in border areas.
Polling for the 140 Assembly seats in Kerala was held on April 9, and the results will be announced on May 4.
