Three of family killed in road accident in Keralam

Three members of a family were killed when a speeding car hit their motorcycle in this district, police said on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Muneer (35), Shifna (24) and their three-year-old son Emil Aibak, all residents of Edakkazhiyur.

The accident occurred around midnight on Saturday. Police said the car was travelling at high speed when it hit the motorcycle carrying the family.

The car driver was allegedly drunk at the time of the accident, police said.

The car and two passengers travelling in it have been taken into custody, while the driver is absconding, they said.

The car and motorcycle were completely damaged in the accident.

The accident occurred amid the shock over the death of eight students from Tamil Nadu in a car-lorry collision at Kaipamangalam in the district.

The tragic accident took place late on Friday night when the vehicle carrying the youths collided with the rear of a parked lorry on the highway at Panambikkunnu in Kaipamangalam.
