Thrissur (Keralam) | Three persons were arrested by forest officials for allegedly catching and consuming a python in Mannamangalam here, officials said on Saturday.

The arrested were identified as Jinson Jose (36), Jishnu (30) and Vivek (30), all residents of Cherukunnu near Mannamangalam, they said.

According to forest officials, the python was spotted near the accused's house on Friday night.

The three, along with their friends, allegedly caught the snake, cut it into pieces, cooked it and consumed the meat.

Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Mannamangalam Forest Station Deputy Range Forest Officer M Shahjahan arrested the three on Saturday, officials said.

The accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
