Thiruvananthapuram | Senior CPI(M) leader Thomas Isaac on Thursday said his video clip aired by television channels about the party's Assembly election defeat reflected the findings approved by the party's state and central committees.

In the video clip, the former finance minister was heard saying that candidates should have been selected with due regard to the prevailing mood among the electorate.

He also admitted that the CPI(M) raised several issues, including corruption in cooperative banks, as reasons for the LDF defeat.

Speaking to reporters, Isaac said the party's state and central committees had approved two documents after discussions across the party regarding the election.

"Nothing other than what is stated in them was said. So I am surprised... How did you turn this into such a big controversy?" he asked.

He said there should be no attempt to create controversy over the remarks.

"Just read what was actually said. There is no need to fabricate controversies by reading between the lines of what wasn't said," he said.

Isaac said his remarks were completely based on the Central Committee resolution and that the clip contained only a small part of his speech and interaction.

"That wasn't all that was said; it was a speech and interaction that lasted for an hour. This is only a five-minute portion of it. In those five minutes, can the Central Committee resolution be explained?" he asked.
