Thrissur (Keralam) | A social media influencer has been booked for allegedly verbally abusing and posting defamatory content against transgender model and actress Deepthi Kalyani, police said on Friday.

The Thrissur City Cyber Police registered a case against Dhanya SR, based on a complaint filed by Kalyani with the Thrissur City Police Commissioner recently.

Police said the case was registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Information Technology Act and the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act.

Dhanya, who posts content on social media accounts and channels under the name "Helen of Sparta", allegedly made a video containing derogatory remarks against Deepthi and her family recently, police said.

The police said Dhanya would be summoned for interrogation, and a preliminary investigation had begun following registration of the case.

Last month, Dhanya was booked by police in her native place in Kasaragod district for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and in a reckless manner, following which her driving licence was suspended for three months.
