Satheesan files nomination, alleges CPI(M)-BJP 'deal' in more constituencies

Senior Congress leader V D Satheesan on Monday filed his nomination and alleged that the CPI(M) and BJP have entered into electoral "deals" in several constituencies in Kerala.

Thiruvananthapuram | Senior Congress leader V D Satheesan on Monday filed his nomination and alleged that the CPI(M) and BJP have entered into electoral "deals" in several constituencies in Kerala.

Monday was the last day to file nominations, and several prominent leaders submitted their papers to the Election Commission authorities.

Satheesan, accompanied by senior leaders, filed his nomination before the Additional Tehsildar in Paravoor around noon.

The fee for filing the nomination was provided by the Plachimada Agitation Council, which had led protests against the Coca-Cola factory in Palakkad.

After filing his nomination, Satheesan said the alleged CPI(M)-BJP "deal" was not limited to Palakkad but extended to other constituencies as well.

He claimed that in Konni constituency in Pathanamthitta, where BJP leader K Surendran had contested in the 2021 election, the seat has now been given to NDA ally BDJS.

He also alleged that the NDA has fielded a Twenty20 candidate in the Ranni constituency, where the Sabarimala temple is located.

"The Twenty20 candidate in Ranni has said he will not raise Sabarimala issues in the election, stating that there has been no wrongdoing on the part of the state government," he said.

Satheesan further alleged that similar understandings exist in Kasaragod, Manjeshwar and Palakkad, where there is an agreement to ensure each other's victory.

Referring to the Karuvannur Service Cooperative Bank case, he claimed that the ED probe launched in 2024 was part of a deal to help the BJP win the Thrissur Lok Sabha seat in the Lok Sabha election.

"After that, the Thrissur Pooram was disrupted, and the BJP's victory was ensured. Was there any action from the ED after BJP's victory in Thrissur? It was part of the deal," he alleged.

He also claimed that ADGP M R Ajith Kumar had held talks with RSS leaders on behalf of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

"That was initially denied by everyone, including the RSS. Later, they said there was nothing wrong with such a meeting. So these kinds of deals have happened earlier," Satheesan said.

He further alleged that the Chief Minister had avoided his official vehicle to meet RSS leaders at the Mascot Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram.

"He should not teach us about history. He has a history of entering the Assembly in 1977 with the support of the RSS," he said.

Satheesan said that all such alleged deals between the BJP and CPI(M) would be exposed.

He added that the election would see the end of "misgovernance" by the LDF government and that Kerala remains a secular state.

"In the coming days, I will reveal more constituencies where such deals have taken place between the CPI(M) and the BJP," he said.

Earlier, UDF leaders had alleged that CPI(M) and BJP had reached an agreement in Palakkad after which an independent candidate was fielded by the left party.

However, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan hit back, claiming that it was the Congress that was supporting the BJP in Kerala and across the country.

BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar also claimed that Congress, fearing defeat in Palakkad, has come out with fake allegations.

Meanwhile, Kerala Congress (M) chairman Jose K Mani filed his nomination before the Meenachil Tehsildar in Pala, Kottayam.

BJP leader B Gopalakrishnan filed his nomination at the Tehsildar's office in Guruvayoor, Thrissur.

Trinamool Congress leader P V Anvar, contesting for the UDF in Beypore, also filed his nomination
