Retired Police Sub Inspector held in POCSO case in Kerala

Kannur (Kerala) | A retired Sub Inspector was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a minor girl at Pariyaram here, police on Thursday said.

The arrested is Gopinathan (62), of Pariyaram.

According to police, the incident took place on Wednesday when an 11-year-old girl living in the neighbourhood reached the house of the accused.

Police said that the accused allegedly sexually harassed the child and threatened not to reveal it to anyone else.

However, after reaching the house, the child told the parents.

When people assembled outside Gopinathan's house, he left the place and reached the police station.

Later, following a complaint filed by the parents, Pariyaram police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Police said that Gopinathan's arrest has been registered, and he will soon be produced before a court in Thaliparamba as part of the remand procedure.
