Thrissur (Kerala) | One person was killed and several others were injured in a road accident involving a private bus at Kunnamkulam on Thursday afternoon, police said.

An officer at the Kunnamkulam police station said the bus, while attempting to overtake another vehicle, collided with a car, lost control and rammed into several other vehicles, among them two-wheelers.

"One person has died, and several others have been injured, two of whom are in a serious condition," the officer said.

Visuals aired by television channels showed the bus coming to a halt inside a private property after crashing through a compound wall and gate. The front portion of the bus was extensively damaged.

A car, an autorickshaw and a two-wheeler also sustained severe damage in the accident.

Locals at the scene and the autorickshaw driver alleged that the bus was travelling at a high speed before the accident.
