Piling rig tilts onto railway tracks, disrupting services at Thiruvananthapuram station

Thiruvananthapuram | A huge piling rig engaged in the railway station development works tilted onto the tracks on Thursday, partially affecting services at the railway station here for almost the entire day, police said.

The incident occurred around 7 am, and the rig was set upright only towards the evening, an officer of Thiruvananthapuram Railway police station said.

"No one was injured in the incident," he said, adding that authorities were looking into the reasons for the rig tilting onto the tracks.

He further said that services were resumed on the affected tracks by evening.

The rig had tilted onto the tracks near the first platform of the station, the officer said.
