Kozhikode (Keralam) | Over 100 mobile phones, including 92 Apple iPhones, worth around Rs 80 lakh were stolen from a mobile phone store at Nadapuram here, police said on Saturday.

According to police, the incident took place at a popular mobile phone shop in Nadapuram town.

The theft came to light when the owner reached the shop in the morning and found the shutter locks broken.

The accused also allegedly turned the CCTV cameras away from the shop before stealing the phones, police said.

Police suspect that more than one person was involved in the theft and said the accused appeared to have targeted high-end mobile phones, as no cash was reported missing.

An investigation has been launched and CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to identify the accused, officials said.

A dog squad and fingerprint experts also examined the shop as part of the investigation, they added.
