One killed, seven injured in truck-mini pickup vehicle collision in Kerala's Thrissur

One person was killed and seven others seriously injured after a truck collided with a mini pickup vehicle at Thoavanoor near Kunnamkulam

Thrissur (Kerala) | One person was killed and seven others seriously injured after a truck collided with a mini pickup vehicle at Thoavanoor near Kunnamkulam here on Friday, police said.

The deceased was identified as Nidhin, a native of Anakkal.

According to police, the accident occurred around 7.30 am when the mini pickup driven by Nidhin was attempting to overtake another vehicle and collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction.

Police said both vehicles were severely damaged in the impact, preventing local residents from rescuing those trapped inside.

Officials from the Kunnamkulam Fire and Rescue Services Station later reached the spot and cut open the vehicles to rescue the occupants.

Although all eight injured persons were rushed to hospital, Nidhin was declared brought dead.

Kunnamkulam police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.

Police said the condition of one of the injured remains critical, while the others have suffered serious fractures.

The body of the deceased will be handed over to relatives after the post-mortem examination.
