Man stabbed on train in Kerala by drunk co-passenger

A young man was stabbed on a train here on Saturday, allegedly by a co-passenger who was drunk

Palakkad(Kerala) | A young man was stabbed on a train here on Saturday, allegedly by a co-passenger who was drunk, police said.

The injured person, who had to receive 35 stitches, is currently stable, and the co-passenger has been arrested, an officer of Shornur Railway Police Station said.

The incident occurred aboard the Karaikkal Express, an overnight regional train between Karaikkal in Puducherry and Ernakulam junction in the wee hours, police said.

The argument between the two men started after one of them tripped over the leg of the other, it said.

Thereafter, the accused, who was intoxicated at the time of the incident, allegedly stabbed the other person, police said.

Section 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was invoked against the accused, they added.
